Lazare SCHWENDI
In the service of Emperor Maximilian II, on February 11, 1565, Colonel Lazare SCHWENDI stormed the fortress of Tokaj in northeastern Hungary.
Legend has it that he brought back from this mission the vine plants
which would have given birth to Tokay Alsace.
